How the Magic is Made for your Special Day…

Twenty years ago I took on the position of a bookkeeper close to home at a Candia Woods Golf Links. Little did I know this position would then blossom into a job that I would take so much pride in and I would become apart of the lives of couples for the happiest day of their lives. With my past experience and education in interior design, flower arrangements and corporate events I was excited to take on the position as Events Director at Candia Woods.Picture1
Leading up until the moment the bride walks down the aisle there is a lot that goes into planning her and her fiancés wedding. Many people think of the event coordinator as the person who books the wedding and shows up for the final product, but what many do not know is that there is a lot that goes into planning and executing the perfect day for the special couple.
From the first day an engaged couple comes to view the Evergreen Pavilion and see what Candia Woods has to offer, another wonderful relationship establishes…… This one is between the engaged couple and myself.
With this new relationship we begin planning their wedding from the moment they book their special day. From this day on I will correspond with couples on a regular basis to put together every detail for their wedding day. Sometimes this could be as far as two years away!
As our relationship grows, I start to feel like a part of their family. I will know their favorite colors, flowers, food, dessert and most of all your vision for your special day. I start by planning the Bridal Tasting where we can sit down to determine what the specific will be for their wedding. I will be working closely with our Chef, and vendors to ensure everything from the food, cake, DJ, flowers, linens and more is exactly what the couple has envisioned! I also work closely with the Pro Shop and Grounds Department to make sure the parking is abundant, gardens lush and patio perfect.
When the magical day arrives, I will brief our staff on the details of the wedding to ensure everything goes off without a hitch! Everyone from the wait staff to bartenders works at top performance to make sure the tables are perfectly set, the place cards are exactly where they should be, candles are lit, champagne pouring and the music playing when the guests start to arrive.
As soon as I see the Bride I’ve began to knPicture2ow very well walking down the isle, I tear up with joy.  I know that we have worked hard to make sure everything is perfect and they will be getting married.  It’s is so rewarding to see my Bride smile back at me and say “Thank You”. After the ceremony, dinner and the reception begin and everything else falls into place.
This is not the last that I see of the new couple who have become family. For many couples we still keep in touch and I love hearing about their new lives together. For me, this is what makes this job so wonderful. Not just they planning and organizing of their weddings, but the friendships that have blossomed!
