Meet Our Teaching Professionals

Patrick Thornell
Patrick is the head golf professional at The Oaks; he has been in the golf industry since 2004, and with the CandiaOaks team from 2010. Teaching the game of golf is his professional passion. Whether it be a private lesson, group clinic, or junior camp his insights coupled with his unique personality will guarantee a great experience.

Jon Ellis
Jon is the Director of Golf Operations at The Oaks; he has been in the golf industry since 1999 and earned Class A PGA status in 2004. Jon’s teaching philosophy is a focus on ball contact, short game, and course management. Jon’s simple approach has helped players of all ability levels reach their potential.

Jim Sheerin
Jim is one of only 438 PGA of America members who have earned Master Professional status … we are fortunate to have him on The Oaks teaching team. Jim is retired from a forty-year career as head professional at Abenaqui Country Club where he continues to teach members. He spends Thursday afternoons at The Oaks and in available for private lessons and clinics.

Jay Pollini
We are excited to introduce Jay Pollini as the newest member of The Oaks PGA teaching staff. Jay is an excellent player … in 2023 being named NHPGA Player of The Year. On the teaching side he brings 27 years of experience in private lessons and clinics; in addition, Jay has seven years of experience as a high school golf team coach. From advanced player to beginner his positive approach almost always results in game improvement/enjoyment among his students.

Ben Alexander
Ben is the General Manager at The Oaks, but he continues with his passion for teaching the game with players ranging in age and ability. Before making changes, Ben focuses on maximizing one’s performance with “the swing they have today”. His ability to prescribe practice routines, goals, and objectives has helped countless golfers improve their game.

--- Ideal for young golfers looking to play competitive golf or just looking to build on their skills.
The Oaks Golf Links is offering PGA Jr. League for the 2025 season. The program
is available to both girls and boys of all skill levels. Registration is now open at the
PGA of America Junior League website. The link to the registration site with
instructions on how to sign up for The Oaks team is below.
