Après Golf — Why not?

WMUR Came to Candia Woods

So, where does the food you enjoy at Candia come from?
March 22, 2016

When I started as food and beverage director at The Oaks it was my first experience at a golf facility.  I wasn’t sure what to expect.

My culinary school education taught me a great deal, but it didn’t prepare me for everything….

What kind of food does a golf course serve?

Who is the clientele?

I soon came to the conclusion that, when it comes to the good food and beverage side, a golf course and a ski resort have a lot in common.
I moved to New Hampshire four years ago from Park City Utah where I worked as a sous chef at the biggest ski resort in the state.  What a blast, ski in the morning and work at night.

In the ski world we all serve what is known as Après-Ski…. a social gathering with pub style fare of food and drink to enjoy while recanting a day on the slopes.

Think about it:  A day on the slopes — A day on the course;  it seems very similar to me.

I thought:  Why not bring Après to the course?

This coming Friday (March 18) The Oaks Grille will open for the 2016 season with an all new pub style menu (click here to view our new menu).  You’ll also find some new selections among our sixteen draft beer offerings, all new deck seating, “trendy” new deck lighting and the return of our popular “Happy Hour”.

Yes — Back to my roots of Après-Ski:  pub style fare, great beer on draft; all served in the perfect venue to settle those wages and replay a day of golf at The Oaks

Come and chill out on our deck… grab a bite… enjoy a cold draft!

See you soon,

Leslee

P.S. When our golfers speak — I will listen.  Please don’t hold back… do not hesitate to let me know what you’d like to see added to our food and beverage selections.

P.P.S.  We are looking for a “cool new name” for our “new look deck”.  We’d love to hear your ideas.
